Who Is Alan Malpartida - Software Engineer, Founder, and Builder

Hey, I'm Alan Malpartida. I'm a full-stack software engineer and the founding engineer at Questurian, a travel technology platform. I built this website to share my work, my projects, and the things I learn along the way.

What I Do

I design and build web applications from the ground up. My day-to-day work involves full-stack development, everything from architecting backends and APIs to crafting responsive, performant frontends. I work primarily with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, and Bun, and I'm always experimenting with new tools and frameworks.

Right now, most of my energy goes into Questurian, a platform that helps travelers discover authentic experiences through community-driven recommendations and interactive guides. We're starting with Latin America and the Caribbean, building something that makes travel planning smarter and more personal.

My Background

Before founding Questurian, I worked on software for the U.S. Air Force's ICBM program. That experience taught me how to build reliable, mission-critical systems under pressure. Those lessons carry over into everything I build today.

I studied software engineering and have been writing code professionally for several years. I've worked across the stack on projects ranging from defense systems to consumer-facing travel platforms. My GitHub stays active. I ship code consistently, and I believe in building in public.

Why I Built This Site

This portfolio and blog is a space where I document what I'm working on. The site itself is a custom-built project, a server-side rendered single-page application powered by Bun with no frontend framework. Just vanilla JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. I built it from scratch because I wanted full control over performance and simplicity.

Every page you see here is server-side rendered for fast load times and search engine visibility, while still offering instant client-side navigation between pages. It's the kind of engineering I enjoy, solving real problems with clean, minimal code.

Where I Am Now
